It does the same thing on my box. Go to your start menu and under accessories select terminal. That's the easiest way to get to a terminal.

Its supposed to be CNTRL+ALT+F3 to drop to terminal and CNTRL+ALT+F7 to bring you back in ;)

Thank you for the help. I know how to get to the terminal from desktop I am trying to get to the terminal off desktop i have tried the ctrl, alt, f3 and it still turns my moniter off. ctrl, alt,f7 brings me right back to desktop. if you may know what the problem might be it would be very helpful thank you :?

Honestly, I have no idea!! Did you install video drivers via envyng? Do you have a custom compiz settings that you have set up an effect using those keys? I'm clueless.... that is very strange. I do it and it will drop me to command prompt and then back in using the CNTRL+ALT+F7

I like your since of adventure, but its just as easy to play with terminal within a GUI inviroment. I actually prefer it -you get eye candy in the background, and you can shake the hell out of the window and watch it wobble ;) - heck what is more adventuresome than having a nice outdoor wallpaper on the desktop and turn on the rain!?
