Anyone know what an error 126 is? That's what I'm now getting when trying to install these packages in 1.7.

Thanks. I forgot all about the repos. Now if only the screen saver would work for me.

Re: Compiz Fusion - Super Compiz

Postby painterh » Tue May 06, 2008 10:58 am

Hello;
Maybe I'll be the first to mention it, or maybe I was the only one stupid enough to try it, but the extra eye candy for super compiz will not work on 1.8 64. I made the mistake of installing as per instructions on first page of this topic. It seems to created major problems with Compiz. How can I remove just what was added during this install? Many of the settings for Compiz will not work now, including the desktop cube and many of the other settings wont even stay checked when I try to enable them. In addition, the extras I was hope to get, don't even show up in Compiz settings manager. It has created major problems with my desktop, nvidia drivers and settings, and the desktop doesn't load properly (icons in upper panel anre out of place and wont return to normal position). It also seems to have done something to the way avant window manager shows up on desktop. After configuring it to show my most used programs, after installing the eye candy upgrades it now lists two of every icon that was supposed to be there. I just want to reverse what happened from installing that eye candy, and remove it. Help Please!
There are 3 things that happen when you start getting old. The first is your memory starts to go and I can't remember the other 2. Wait! What was I talking about?

SOLVED-Compiz Fusion - Super Compiz -

Postby painterh » Wed May 07, 2008 4:30 pm

Well, It seems to have straightened up after I removed all Compiz and Compiz-fusion components using Synaptic and re-installing them. I'm not sure if it helped any but I ran apt-get 'autoremove' between removing Compiz and re-installing. The only issue that remains is that the placement of some of panel icons for currently running programs has moved into the center of the top panel instead of on the right, and I haven't figured out how to move it back to the right next to time and date.
I'm not going to let that irritate me too much because everything works as it's supposed to. So far, I'm a big fan of 1.8 64bit. I think it is faster than my previous install of 1.7 32bit. Cheers
