No, Pam my age may be higher but in no way is my IQ higher than yours!!! You have more insight and intelligence than I will ever have! I will always strive for it, but doubtful will ever get there! I just do my best, study and ask umpteen questions all the time! Fortunately, for me you have answered many of those umpteen questions!!! I suppose next time I build a computer and do not have built-in graphics will again explore the KDE desktop. Lack of experience with KDE holds me back a bit, but overall is the looks. I am a person that spreads everything out! You would never believe how my desk looks!!! So, therefore when menu's are compact and concise, just as if my desk was, I do not find a thing! Guess we all have our achilles heal somewhere???

Yes, I do tend to talk of themes quite a bit, guess I really fell down that rabbit hole! I guess I really do enjoy doing them, but know I must move past them to also learn to create the rest of my visions. Ambiance and Nissl consider those flattery just the same as Journey doing the song "All Too Much" from "The Beatles" and to be honest, I love Journey's rendition more than theirs. So, I figured same may hold true for a small amount of users out there for my renditions! Also, Nissl was abandoned by the original author and since I really loved that original theme, figured would be nice to revamp it so others that enjoyed it could once again have it, but with my touches!

Will admit at times it scares me more to create these themes, instead of assembling an OS! Suppose have been trying to create more of a relationship between gtk-2.0 and 3.0. Talked about doing this quite a while, but now became very dominant since Flashback will be gone in 3.12! Some are going to miss those looks intensely while others will not care! Least I can show many of those looks and effects, while making some people happy! The latter will just sneer my themes and use the Windows look-alikes! Even though I like XFCE, I find LXDE more stable and less apt to give hassles! The fact that LXDE moves smoothly with each new Ubuntu, is something many of us users treasure! None of us can say that about Gnome, since it is not true! KDE is really not so smooth either, but is a little easier than Gnome when it comes to building it into a new Ubuntu!

Not going to post any pics this time, everything is in the process of being redone to this new style and also want all the themes for new image of this OS and future versions. Have a bit of catching up to do since PC is running again! Can do almost everything with Laptop, but forget building OS's with it as they never come out right! PC with its 2 Hard drives has come in handy for uncounted amount of things as I stash many files on that secondary drive!

Your Radeon HD 3000 is plentiful to run kde 4.13/12. All you'd need to do is install the drivers and switch over to opengl 1.2/2 or raster in the settings.

If you are using any of the newer kernels, they have good radeon support but still for a solid graphics punch you will need either firmware or proprietary support. If you dont know how to instal, then do ask.

xfce again with dark shadows. Gnome-shell really needs a lesson on discipline.

Off-Topic :
Ran KDE just fine on 13.04 and will do it again on 14.10. Just keeping this image lighter than 4gbs! Gnome will be out of the picture for next OS, so will have the room for KDE. Is the second reason I did not install KDE this time. I had to look at which desktops I was using the most! Cinnamon even trickled in more than KDE! I had the effects on KDE, but just did not care for it a lot and found myself using everything but, so figured why do it? Only reason I did do it was to learn it! I learned quite a bit, not as much as you or Xan, but enough to get by!

I know I will definitely work with KDM a bit to improve some looks when I build 14.10! Yes is a time off, but have to look at things realisticly! This PC has run for 5 years now, 2 years over planned! If I just ran this PC for an hour or two a day, would say, run it forever! I know anything electronic run as hard and as long is going to die and most likely before I build next OS! Am working quite a bit so is also taking away from time to work with things! Primary job is going like gangbusters right now, but secondary is lacking severely! Primary will drop off in a few months. If secondary job does not produce within this next month will also cut it loose and look for another! I can not see myself getting out of the hole without having a few incomes!

Of course neither job works with any of the knowledge I have gained on here or at school! Only part that comes close is having to use JET! I downright refuse to use MS just because I want to use JET! Is retarded since nothing else has to do with MS, so why would I want to use the Laptop just to boot in and do my little report?? Besides, generally with the PC, waiting is not bad at all! Takes about 3 minutes and am logged in and ready to fill the thing out! Is also much more peaceful since it seems every time I ever use MS, I get upset! If it was not for TheeMahn, I would have never understood how a Linux OS could be this dependable! So I will always owe him and everyone here for my progress!!! Also, the motivation that exists here along with perserverance! Has pushed me to never give up and just keep working to improve!

Better do a screen shot of course this time is Purple Popper! Fixed this up pretty good and also Shawn is using it on her 13.04. Won't give that OS up since she is in the middle of some game! Have wanted to load this OS on there, but she is afraid it will not work the way she wants it! Funny, since this one is much more improved, but at times women are hard to convince the right way to go! Oh well, such is life! Anyway here it is with its nice gradient for the menu! No PNGs to mess it up all script!

My opinion of gnome 3 is solid crap. Amarok comes to mind here. We have something that works well, let's scrap everything and start over. KDE is a resource hog and trys to impersonate the other os.

Don't get me wrong if KDE or gnome 3 drags just one user to the world of Linux effort well spent. Just my 2 cents.

TheeMahn, now you are an ace with all this! Was curious if you will ever design your own desktop? I could see no one better to make a desktop that would function correctly! When you think about it, you are a hair away, so why don't you just go the distance and do it??? Would be there in a heartbeat if you do!

For now, I suffer being all Gnomed up! Of course as you say, also was the desktop that drew me in to begin with! Is laid out nice, but sure would like to see additions from other desktops as there is always room for improvement! Personally, I do not see myself being able to create my own desktop at this time or near future! Not sure would be at all acceptable since most of my current themes are scoffed anyway! Some people as yourself have the gift/knowledge to inspire change and greatness. I seem to lack that, create controvery and mockery!

Still, I admit I severely enjoy doing what I do! One day am sure someone will understand the point and work it correctly and inspiration will spawn from it, but that day is not now! Time for another screenshot of my new vision of "Ambiance". I am sure to rate at 30% on this and have a dozen malicious comments!

Thee, Gnome-shell and KDE are here to stay.

The Gnome-shell devs have admitted openly that the feedback from gnome-shell was crap and they were better killing off Gnome completely.

Anyways Redhat, Intel and others are funding it.

Gnome-shell has a very long way to go. Its regarded in early beta stages.

KDE now has excreted away all the annoyances and can run on cheap old intel graphics. Further tweaking can bring down memory consumption to around 80MB on a 1080p with all the fancy graphics---wobbly windows, cube etc, enabled.

I suggest you take a look at XFCE 4.10+compton. Quality has exceeded anything that ever came out of GTK2.
When GTK3 is ready to be implemented they will integrate it.

Love those screen shots from people.. Can KDE be installed on any desktop? or it is something that can only be found in the OS if it was already included.. I'm using 3.8 and love it, haven't been back to Windows in about a month..
