A look into the future! comments wanted !

Postby JOHNNYG » Fri Jul 24, 2009 6:11 pm

Hi all, I know I'm probably opening myself up to an onslaught for posting "comments wanted", But I would like some feedback on a new project I'm working on for a future release of ULTIMATE EDITION (2.4 to be precise); The other night I was checking my posts over at GNOME-LOOK when ,much to my surprise I found THIS :

Your clock
by TheeMahn on: Jul 20 2009
TheeMahn TheeMahn

I am sure you know who I am. I would like your permission to debianize your clock it is modded to go with the upcoming Ultimate Edition 2.4 theme you can see it here viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1670 It has not been released to even my admin.

WOW ! Needless to say I was more than taken aback, I had to read It a couple of times! So what do you think I said?

ULTIMATE ALIEN-X

UUMMM,AAHH,UUMMMM,.....OOOO HELL YES !!!
It would be both an honor and a privilege to even have any of my work even considered for Ultimate Edition ! Thank you so much, I don't know what to say other than, OOO HELL YES !!!
(not authorized to view this forum but) OOO HELL YEA!
Johnnyg

As you can probably tell I was a little excited ! To get a request for "MY" permission to use one of my works from "TheeMahn" ! To use in " ULTIMATE EDITION 2.4" ! One , If not the "most advanced" operating systems on the planet !..... OOOHHHH HELL YEA ! (still a little excited)
So I thought I would mossy on over to ULTIMATE Forum and check to see if there was anything new,(I always find something new, even if it's old,Ya know?!)and I found a new post from TheeMahn that had a hint of things to come, a "look into the future" if you will.

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1670

And there was a screenshot of what may be ULTIMATE 2.4, with my ULTIMATE-CLOCK in it !!Looks good for a rank amateur !

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3436

so I got to thinking that I would like to design the hands again, and make the 2.4 ULTIMATE-CLOCK exclusive to 2.4 ! something a little more "theme" oriented , so I had to start from scratch, and made my own mock-up of the new logo, and wallpaper.but It just didn't work for me, I mean I made the wallpaper to match TheeMahn's (the one's in the screenshots), but I wanted a bit more! so I went hunting and found (what I think)
is the perfect wallpaper for this design ,but I am only going to post my screenshots at this time, anyway my main concern is the clock I would like to know what you think , do you like these clock-hands, or what would you, the people who use ULTIMATE EDITION, like to see? I am open for suggestions !let me know Ithink I will Be interesting.! :P
As for the background-- I have elaborated the clock(as that is what I want the most feedback for) so you can plainly see it,In the background I have placed the U E logo in it's designated place,(looks very cool) you will notice 4 smaller orbs, In those I have changed the icons for computer, home, trash and firefox to the background image, and stretched them to fit, they fit perfect.when I go over them with the pointer it's like the whole button lites up,(very cool)Everybody that See's it Say's "wow that's really cool!"and yes it is!,also I have made the grub splash and splash screen is the original (without the logo),because I have set my compiz splash set to the new logo, and on boot it super imposes the logo,(very animated)and I have made the GDM,and yes the usplash, the usplash trobber has the same "LAVA" look as the logo and is set at the bottom middle of the screen,I made the usplash with TUM 1.04 :D
(blatant promo.) :D
