Undeniably Ultimate Edition and linux in general are rock solid and stable to a non-professional and professional user today.
Eye candy to get more users to use linux is epic.
But something has totally been left out--------- Fonts
The fonting system isnt well managed in linux -- i mean that there are glitches and low quality fonts in use by default-- in both gnome and kde
go back 5-6 years and take a good look at mandrake linux 10.1. Even today it gives commercial oses a run for its money-- only solely because of good quality and well managed fonts.
fast forward and today look at mandriva 2011-- a resurrection of the same on kde 4.6. This feature almost entirely assassinates multimedia capabilities of the os. I dont care if firefox and chrome cant play flash videos because im convinced by the looks of the os that it isnt even a problem.
Getting fonts to sit well inside windows, applets and bars is probably the sole factor in attractiveness of an operating system and not forgetting which kind of fonts are in use.
I use Aller & Envy Code R. They are perfect but would even be better if it were implemented at a deeper level within the system.
Lucinda grande is another great font.
Alone together these 3 fonts eradicate the plethora of fonts present in gnome and kde.
I hope implementation of this as a default attribute of further Ultimate Edition editions will create unparalleled appreciation of Linux and ultimate edition.
This has never been a problem for anyone but rather is more of a necessity. Neglecting the fonting system in linux wont cause harm whatsoever but implementing it will be like a breath of fresh air to everyone.
