Wow 6 that's SIX HOURS on cable to download 2.4 gamers edition! 200kbs high/130kbs average.
why so little bandwidth - less than any other distro.? Normally 3.8 gig can be had in under 2 hours easily.

No problems here - just checked bandwidth using sourceforge mirrors getting close to 500 here. Could be the mirror you are using perhaps? :D

Cheers.

You are probably correct Moebius. There is 31 mirrors just at sourceforge, I would have to venture to guess the slowest to be a gigabit I have seen stats of Ultimate Edition flowing out at Gigabytes per second not gigabit.

The server Ultimate Edition sits on used to be (6) 1 gbps lines, now sitting on 5 lines. 1 is 10 gigabit, the other 4 are gigabit. Welcome to the cloud. ;) If you ever feel sourceforge is too slow / congested, we do host our own O/S. We do not have the bandwidth to support that many users. However, you can always grab any release here. In Nov 2009 we seen almost 1/2 a petabyte of transfer and shut down 3 times in one month. That is why I have moved traffic there. You can read more about that this Wednesday, on sourceforges blog homepage, they interviewed me.
