Live Chat

Postby Redeemed » Fri Nov 07, 2008 1:39 pm

I think it'd be awesome for Ultimate edition to have a IRC room or some type of live chat room...what do you guys think???

Sorry for editing your post in a terminal:

Code: Select all
kvirc irc://irc.freenode.org/UltimateEdition

If things go well, I have been offered from 2 networks to have our own IRC network, not channel.

It could be great, I also have asked the same question before a while ago and I didn't get any answers too...
I can even take it on my shoulders if TheeMahn and other admins are interested, and I;m sure there are other members here that can help out with it, I guess I'm not the only one that spent years in IRC when it was the main live communication medium over the net... Even before ICQ, MSN, AOL, blogs, facebooks, forums, etc. I burnt a lot of my life inside those IRC chatrooms. I've got to run our own server because we had a lot of problems on public servers that were attacked all the time by the cyber arab terrorists, yes, they've got to there too, bombing the channels, spamming, kicking people, attacking them with exploits, etc etc...

It was attempted once before but we didn't have enough people to keep it open all the time.
By all means, anyone who wants to start it up again, feel free, just make sure there's enough support to keep it going.

Hi Stanca,
you have to upload your image to a hosting site like photobucket then whilst you're creating your signature in the User Control Panel, paste the link to your image in the signature and encapsulate it using the [Img] BBCode.
Hope it helps.

The chat running on the Oz forum is a PHPBB3 mod and works well apart from the 5 sec delay for updates. I like the idea however keep in mind that if we help a user through chat, there will be no record kept for other users with similar problems. The manpower required to 'man' the chat would be great as well. Maybe a chat for Admin/Mods only to keep us all informed might be a better idea?

Just my 2 cents worth.

with the invent of otehr communication mediums available now day IRC has taken a major back seat in the genera.
you might find more interest in monitoring through twitter, facebook, and the like. for the most part look at what pigeon supports and you find the new modern communication forms. if we support those we will already be miles ahead of microsoft support and quickly closing in on ubuntu support.
