E17 version

Postby brute » Fri Oct 10, 2008 10:15 pm

Hello, with the evolution of the E17 desktop, I was wondering if a remaster might be in the works. I was on youtube and watched Ecomorph a version of Compiz for E17, looks really impressive from what I have seen. Plus they have some really cool animated icons and desktops that simply blow your mind. Buy anyway, a great distro, and based on Ubuntu and E17 with all the trimmings.....just the mere thought would make one shake with desire.

Thanks for posting those links, I know Youtube has several compiz type E17 effects that are really cool. I di download MoonOS E and it has basically everything Ubuntu has including codecs already installed as well as the E17 desktop. It looks really cool and I will try it as my third OS. If you get a chance, download MoonOS e.

I had installed for 2 weeks OpenGeu8.04.1AMD64(Ubuntu based) with the latest E17Desktop default as my third OS , and after Elive1.0Gem just 1 day. I liked enlightenment at first very much,is very nice and fast sometimes, has very nice themes(especially imago,imago-mac and elive's lucax night theme) but was for me very unstable(being a continuous beta testing). Almost allways was freezing and I had to restart e17 only with ctrl+alt+backspace. This was hapening only with bling module enabled and the extra effects. Thunar has problems with mounting the ntfs partitions. Nautilus works very bad in e17 or at all. Later I tested Elive 1.9.10 Unstable LiveCD and seemed to me to work good. In the end I installed E16 on my faithfull UUE1.9 Amd64.

My OpenGeu had also many others bugs . I didn't try AWN but I guess it doesn't work in e17. Try Itask or Ibar on the top.

If you are talking about e17 again,iTaskNG and iBar are somewhere in the enlightenment configuration or preferences at modules enabling. Or you can find many e stuffs at E-LOOK.ORG and E-STUFF.ORG. Just google for them.
