if you do mod it though i claim no responsibility. make sure you do your homework.

LOL .. I hear ya ;) Naw...just bideing my time ...I'll tell ya this tho'...when I was building systems, always gave the customers a little extra tryin' to look after them, but my personal systems I built, if it didn't peg every benchmark there was, it went out the door at half price. Think I only had 2 go out that way. What they're (manufacturers) doing to systems today is criminal. They're so choked down it's pathetic. And I really believe they think they're protecting the customers from themselves  If the users only could see the full potential of their systems. Well...anyway...

well as far as the number they like to do on bios' i agree with some of the things they do. hiding overclocking features & stuff because you can do alot of harm in there if your not careful or kno what your doing. but at the same time the do hide some things that shouldnt be hid. for instince on my pc. the original bios had alot of things hidden.

it supports raid but what did they do. they first disabled it then they hid the entry.

ide controllers as we all know allow different dma modes. they locked it ad udma3 then hid it. hell the ide & sata were hidden period. some bios let you go in & see the settings (dma mode,heads/cylenders ect) but you cant change anything you can just read what it says. not this one. there was no trace of ide or sata anywhere in the bios except for the boot order.

power management is enabled then hidden.

this is just the start i could go on & on. ive never ever seen a bios so crippled as mine was orginally. all these things i listed too i mean what hard would they actually do if they had left them enabled? none what so ever. and like i said they even went beyond disabling stuff and got all sneaky. a good 80% of my bios was hidden.

Oh,WHO am I kidding... They wouldn't do that.

Yeah!! Ya Think !?!?!? LMAO...I'd set she'll git-r-dun alright...nice...uhmmm...excellent....uhmmm outstanding.....ahhhh shoot....Whatta set of #'s!!!! ;)

I hear ya Drama...I know...if your savvy in this world, the only way to go and not get choked up is to build your own. Course if ya got some friends/family to help ya out on a custom job, you get a list and take it to get built. Then, of course, have friend/family come set it up for ya.

I hear ya too Baph, LOL, naw, they wouldn't do that ;)

Well, like I said, before the end of this year, I'll have it together. Then all this one will need to do is torrent or something to get Ultimate Edition spread to the world!! 8-)

Since playing around with Compiz, something else has been going on:

Old marks (originally posted):
7920 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1583.864 FPS
8346 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1669.089 FPS
8369 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1673.675 FPS
8337 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1667.011 FPS

New marks (since playing around w/Compiz, even tho' it's still running at install settings):
9008 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1801.526 FPS
10831 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2166.040 FPS
10853 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2170.415 FPS
10850 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2169.926 FPS

 and still no progress with getting the selections to stay selected... :?

New #'s with the new computer:
Code: Select all
96440 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19287.996 FPS
96761 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19352.168 FPS
96882 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19376.283 FPS
96796 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19359.090 FPS
96413 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19282.496 FPS

cowboy, You still have me spanked!!! I guess you have something going on right for ya ;) Must be the MB I suppose. I have a PCI-e 2.0 card stuffed in a PCIe x16 slot so there is a slight performance hit there. Not a big deal for me though! I think the human eye can only see like 35-45 FPS anyways!!! lol  (edit: I should retract that statement, seems as though some people on the net would argue with me on that. Put it this way, what difference in FPS does a human eye be able to perceive? Can you tell the difference between 100 & 200 FPS?) But, hell - all you gamers out there that insist on having 90,000 FPS ..... go for it :ugeek:
New #'s with no compiz and no dual head setup:
Code: Select all
zzmadi@zzmadi-desktop:~$ sudo glxgears
101118 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20223.457 FPS
101785 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20356.930 FPS
101815 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20362.973 FPS
101761 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20352.004 FPS
101665 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20332.947 FPS
101130 frames in 5.0 seconds = 20225.879 FPS

Still down a couple hundred compared to cowboy's #'s. Must have a better card and M.B.--- Hell, could be something as simple as the color and theme setup. I give up ...... for now
