I learned VB and will be re-taking C#,C++ in the fall. This is just my own way of getting rid of Windows one step at a time. So I hope someone can help me out here and point me in the right direction.
I also have a Fiber Optics and Linux certification text coming up in May I believe I have to check again.
I will be the first to tell you, you will have your hands full. I learned Basic before any language, self taught on a Commodore VIC-20, yes I also know Visual Basic a snap to learn once you know basic including API, C in itself is truely a bear & I know pascal, asm & many others, the basic ruined me when it comes to c. My skills in this dept are sub par, does it mean I CANNOT learn C? Well we know better then that, I will be forecoming that you will lose sleep over it in an enviornment as you are in.
You will struggle to make the "Hello World" program as your mind will go back into everything you have learned in VB, do not make comparisons, I just want to help you. Relearn thinking and you will be fine.
The API you learned was as close as it gets to C. Kiss your globals goodbye. Declare this declare that is where you are heading.
