Acer 6920 notebook

I just wanted to post a note that I have upgraded my 1.7 Ultimate Edition on my Acer 6920 to Version 1.8 Ultimate Edition. I am VERY pleased with 1.8. All of the quirks I was experiencing on 1.7 have gone away. My system runs faster, the desktop effects are all working, and my notebook is singing happy songs. Well... it isn't really singing, because the only thing that isn't working yet is the sound hardware. I'm not pleased with that, but I know I can find the workaround for it eventually.

One of the problems I had on 1.7 was my wireless not working. Once I loaded 1.8, I immediately found my wireless router and connected using the WPA2-Personal key. My Linksys router doesn't do WEP so I use WPA2 instead.

If anyone has an idea how to get the sound working, I would appreciate he tip. The Acer has Intel audio hardware (according to the Hardware Test provided by Launchpad).

Thanks for a great release of Ultimate Edition.

b+

You might try this:
From a terminal: sudo modprobe snd-your sound card #
Then add snd-your sound card # to your etc modules file at the end of the page
Type sudo alsamixer to adjust your sound
You can go to the sound card manufacturer to get the sound card #.
It won't work will all sound cards, but it will work with some. pch
