Cool. The way it was sounding, this was the final cut.

Don't think it's " broken ".
Works a bit different from what I am used too, but I think a lot is down to how you have configured your individual settings.
Mint Software Manager?
If it's there I appear to have hidden it, because it's nowhere I can see, nor is Ubuntu Software Centre. Neither matter to me as I generally use Synaptic.I've used Synaptic to download Alchemy and it's installed everything just right. Same with MyPaint.
Might be a problem with Thunderbird importing e-mails but that could also be incorrect configuration. If it's any help to the developers, -and since I know nothing about programming I could be way off-beam here- I think perhaps different configuration routines may be causing people conflicts for some.Only other thing is it's a bit slow starting up but that could also be because I am testing it on an external hard-drive.All in all, so far. it's all positive. I love the way the radio-tray can start-up with a click already configured to play my country music. And Ultimate Player-perfection!
BTW I installed from a DVD from LinuxCD.org.Don't know if that makes a difference but only problems i've had have been getting used to the interface. If that changes I'll let you all know.
Meanwhile-WAY TO GO THEEMAHN!

Updating my last post.
I have successfully downloaded Scribus via Ubuntu Tweak where you will find an Application Centre. it has installed perfectly and runs perfectly.
I have also downloaded and successfully installed the Synfig-Studio program via gDebi .
Everything is working fine.
3.0 is NOT broken!
I played around with gnome-settings and things work as they used to. I think the problems other people are experiencing may be mint-menu related .
Hope this helps! :P

Ever hear of "Your Mileage May Vary"? I know all about the app center in Tweak, thank you. If it`s working for you, great. For many others, not so much.

Hhmmmn!
Whole thing just crashed!
No warning-nothing.
Graphics just disappeared, left with black screen- background just vanished. Tried restart-wouldn't restart. Had to shut down completely. Started up again- same thing again, something definitely isn't right. This was just after an " update " so will try to reinstall tommorow.
Checked Thunderbird out and it seems to be O.K. so problems likely with the distro, or the distro update

I am not sure how you went from liking it to disliking it so fast, but I have had no problems with this distro. I am loving it.

I didn`t say I disliked it, I said it isn`t up to par with the rest of Ultimate Edition`s releases.

Oh, okay then. My apologies, I completely understand that. Is it because it is Mint based do you think or no? What linux distro is currently your main? Thanks.

No prob, bro. No idea, seems like I never had any problems at all with any Ultimate Edition version until Mint was introduced in this one. Oh, I`m still using it, like I said, a bad version of Ultimate Edition is still better than a perfect one by anyone else. It`s just irritating, 2,6.3. LTS, 2.9, 3.0 Lite, 3.0 Gamers, 2.8, 2.7 and 2.6 all ran like champs, perfect in every way. This one is just buggy on my machine, no idea why, nothing has changed but the version. Not knowing the behind-the-scene scenario, I can only speculate that during Glenn`s bereavement and subsequent absence, a certain someone that is no longer on the team pushed his distro idea, (which is always based on Mint), to the dev team and it went from there. I could be, and probably am, way off-base, but that`s what it feels like. Look everyone, if I didn`t love Ultimate Edition so much I wouldn`t bother to raise a stink. But I KNOW 3.0 is the best distro on the planet, it just needs a little extra code-stroking by the dev team to be what Ultimate Edition symbolizes: ULTIMATE. That`s all I`m asking for here. Okay? ;) UPDATE: I changed the title to better reflect my personal opinion on the subject. And that`s all it is, just my opinion. But I`ve been here a long time and I feel that gives me the right to say what I`m feeling.
