I installed and updated ultimate edition v2.7 with no problems at all.

I have tried to access the windows 7 shared printer and have not been able to no matter what i have tried. Linux does not even see it as a shared windows printer. ( Operating system is windows 7 professional version // router is Linksys WRT54GS (updated with newest firmware) and yes i did try it both ways on the windows 7 network. ( both in HOME mode and in Business/Work mode) Neither worked. I also have samba and samba client installed on the linux notebook.Very frustrating to say the least.

When i had XP installed i never had a problem accessing the printer when i used Ubuntu v7, 8 or 9

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated

How is the printer connected to the WIN7 PC? Is it USB? Does the printer have an Ethernet connection?
Is the printer set to be "shared" in WIN7?
Could you post some more information about you systems? It might help to in resolving your problems.

The printer (Kodak ESP 3250 AIO) is connected only to the usb port on the windows 7 desktop. It is not a wireless capable printer and so has no RJ connector for a cat 5 ot 6 cable in the rear. IT is marked as shared andeveryoen can access it on both the HOME and the WORK networks I have tried the printer on both network types and neither works

However this morning i was able to connect to the windows 7 printer via searching for a SAMBA windows printer. The ubuntu notebook was connected via cable to the router. STILL.... it takes forever to print and sometimes it still does not print. If the ubuntu notebook uses wireless then it is not seen nor work at all
Any suggestions?

I downloaded and install the package that you posted. Shut both the notebook, desktop PC. router and modem down and waited about 5 minutes then restarted everything. I also disabled my firewall temporarily to see if that was the cause of the problem.

I double checked the windows 7 desktop and the printer is still marked as shared and the check box on "render print jobs on client computers" is checked.

The notebook still cannot see any samba printers. I input the smb search as smb://workgroup/computername What happens is that workgroup gets a browse arrow on the left then that flicks on ...then off after about 3 seconds. IT does not stay lit ( marked as on or able to browse).
Any other type of search for a printer that i have tried doesn't work on the wireless network.

just FYI if i have both machines wunnign windows ( desktop with windows 7 and notebook with XP PRo ) the printer works normally and fully.

I am at a loss here AL help would be greatly appreciated

install the mount manager on your system please.

IF it would be any easier i could remove ALL of Ultimate v2.7 and start from scratch

Just let me know if that would be less work to get this problem corrected.

Win 7 machines, scroll down the page if the network and, sharing the center under the ground, there is an entry for a password to control. To access the shared printers or files on an XP machine need to be disabled. Make sure you have the same workgroup name on both machines. Win a 7, I right-click 'computer' and scroll down to think about cookies, please refer go to Properties. In XP, right-click My Computer and the Computer Name tab, and select Properties.
