saving hard drive

Hello,

I killed my laptop hard drive by not changing the settings of the cycles, rotations or switch-offs. Forgive me for not knowing the proper terminology. I've purchased and installed a new hard drive, but I want to make sure i don't make the same mistake. Is there a way I can prevent this? The drive is listed as sda

We need a little more info on your lappy..
Remember "Murphy's Law"...I am having a hard drive going out....lol...it's a windows install.. ;)

yes, I believe that is the correct information i needed. thank you very much. Now I just want to figure out how to download an iso of version 2.5
