laptop battery problem

Postby razy60 » Thu Jul 30, 2009 6:53 pm

Hi,
Just noticed a minor problem with my laptop, if i try to run Ultimate Edition using the mains lead and no battery it gets stuck at the splash screen, if i put the battery in it starts OK, it doesn't do this if i run windows, It has only just started to do this today.
Any one with any ideas?

Cheers

Some operation such as the one your are experiencing problem with requires the battery in order for it to function. Its just like when doing some operation/ running some applications, you will get a message saying that you need to plugin your AC Adapter!!

Darkchild, cheers for the reply.
Problem is that as my laptop is on a lot its not good for the battery to be charging when there is no need, and as i have just bought a new battery i don't want to fry this one like i did the last.
That said i have just installed 2.3 32bit and the battery problem seems to have resolved it's self, :D
i think i may have messed with a setting when i was trying to resolve a graphics problem
Still at least i have a nice clean OS to mess with

cheers

razy60,
With regard to your laptop battery, I would advise you not to remove the battery, especially if it has a full charge remaining. I would suggest you cycle your battery instead. Once fully charged, run it from battery power only until it is fully discharged, then recharge it again whilst using mains. If you do not need to use the battery for an extended period, then fully discharge it then remove it. ;)

Sandy,
Welcome to the forum.
"Reduces to 25%" - Try the above and cycle your battery a few times and see what happens.

Cheers.
