Kinda gives you a good perspective of those who have made their machines work, when they didn't work out of the box!Thank goodness some of them are here on this forum to help those of us who just don't always get it.It always helps to humble you when someone else asks for help with what they might think is a dumb question.Just as cowboy says...don't ever loose the perspective of a newbie!

Now throw in a few sudo this grep that and maybe a couple of lspci's when you don't have a clue, and you get the results you're feeling!!! Then hope that one of the young whipper snappers here can post a how-to  By the way, 2 thumbs up on getting the blue light to work!!! I've seen many posts from those who didn't get that far!!

Dude. I sooo sudo'ed, I grep'ed I did make-install-tar.gz... And if anybody even so much as mentions "b43-fwcutter" I'm a gonna get aaaaallll STABBY-LIKE.

Holy s--t and shinola, what a sad state of affairs. At this point I'm done though. Wireless access card via PCMCIA or USB dongle be damned. You can stick a FORK in my a-- gents, because I repeat: I... AM... DONE. That HP is back at the store and I'm glad I took it back. I think I'll put the money toward upgrading my present system. My local Fry's had an awfully sweet LGA775 motherboard on sale for $99...

I was kinda wonderin' when you were going to WAKE THE HELL UP!!!!! ;) <BREW> 8-)

Yo, bitch, check it:

New specs will include an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Wolfdale core @ 3.0GHz), a Western Digital 150GB Raptor 10,000RPM drive and 2GB of DDR2 (1066Mhz) RAM all plugged into an MSI P45 Neo3.

Gawd DAMN, that's some good s--t right there!!!

Looks pretty good. Dropped Intel years ago when the pressure of the media & public finally broke them down and Intel admitted to their inherent CPU numeric processing problem & proclaimed they weren't going to fix it...don't know if they ever did or didn't, but I'm purely sold on AMD & nVidia now...all plug and play and no worries ...but that's just my opinion...if what someone has works for them, Go For It :)

Well take it from me that you won't go wrong with the E8400 it is really sweet. It's so fast that sometimes I think that I need a break pedal to slow it down. I have only had my new box for a week now but I love it.
