cpu overheating

I know it is an alpha... Help and support for Ultimate Edition 5.0

cpu overheating

Postby kensolar » Fri Jan 13, 2017 6:59 am

Hi. I went and bought an old (sort of) HP Z800 with dual x5550 Xeon cpu's. Nothing too fancy, a Quadro 2000 and 6 x 4GB 1333MHz RDIMMs 4 x 1TB HDDs. The problem.
Ultimate 5.0.1 works just fine except sometimes the cpu's start to race and overheat. I have Intel microcode installed and everything works and looks fine, but every once in a while I lose control of the Xeons.
Any suggestions? I have looked at my system manager but don't see any single program repeating the problem. I have Maui 2, Mint 18 KDE and Win 7 Pro installed as well without this incident.
But I like Ultimate (of course). Will changing to 5.1 with KDE possibly fix this? Should I try and let you know what happened?
Not a noob but not a serious IT Tech either. Background's in Hardware, not software. I'll listen to what anyone has to say.
Thank you.
