Missing toolbars

I have recently moved my laptop to Ultimate edition 5.0. After installation have installed SPSS statistical software. When I run the program the toolbars located at the top and bottom of the screen disappear. They still maintain function if you can click in the right place, but the visual toolbar is gone. If I reset the laptop the bars return, until I launch SPSS again. any advice on what I can do, as I love this distro but have to use the SPSS software.
