Possible installer inadequacy

I know it is an alpha... Help and support for Ultimate Edition 5.0

Possible installer inadequacy

Postby S3KshuN8 » Sun Aug 28, 2016 4:30 am

OK, so I set up my laptop with 5.0 MATE LTS. Smooth install, no problems there.
Well, my cousin left another laptop here that he is no longer using. Instead of dealing with the headache that is WinBlows, I just shrank the partition and set about installing Ultimate Edition on it as well.
Maybe it's just my ignorance, but I could not coax the installer to do both a physical drive for encryption AND an encrypted swap (or ANY kind of swap).
So, I set aside the swap partition but did not add it with the installer; I just did the crypto partition install.
I can go in and manually add the unsecured swap partition after a reboot, but I'd like to A) encrypt it and B) add it automatically on bootup.

I have no idea how to do that, nor where to look for guidance, except here. Thank you for reading.

I have concluded that an encrypted root filesystem is somewhat unnecessary. A simple BIOS boot password will suffice, and thus the installer will automatically encrypt the swap by default. It was a good experiment, though.
