Firefox crashed, can't get back to deafult browser settings

Firefox crashed, can't get back to deafult browser settings

Postby rocknman » Fri Jul 25, 2014 9:31 pm

Hello.
My Firefox browser crashed for some reason and now I don't have the default 26.0 Mozilla Firefox for Ultimate Edition - Ultimate Edition 3.8.
Instead I now have 26.0 Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0.
I'm at a loss. Tried looking everywhere for a solution but I'm now here. Suggestions?
A folder on the desktop labeled Old Firefox Data is present but I don't have any idea what to do.
I've done everything possible I can think of but would like to get back to the default browser that TheeMahn had installed.
Thanks!

Edit: Let me further elaborate. My idea is to us the terminal to use sudo apt-get XXXXXXXXX. Sound like the right idea? However, I don't know the exact wording to get back the default Firefox application that was originally installed. I uninstalled Firefox for the time being. Also, the correct title should be listed as "Firefox crashed, can't get back to deafult browser initially installed with Ultimate Edition 3.8". Thanks for your time, advice and consideration.

Hi
I'm using Ultimate Edition 3.4 and am currently using Firefox 31.0. It was automatically updated recently (around 24th - 25th July) due to an apparent critical security hole, a Mozilla 'bug-and-security update'.
I believe Thunderbird was also updated at the same time.
Probably not exactly the advice you're looking for (apologies in advance!) but given these updates are security-fix related, wouldn't it be more appropriate to use an up-to-date version of their web browser than an older one potentially susceptible to vulnerabilities Mozilla themselves have 'identified'?
