Thee Mann asked for opinions of his "catching up" on versions, 3.8 beta announcement. My reply, sure. If you feel you have fallen behind where you want to be, then follow your muse.
I'm sort of a Noob, but I'll try to be more proactive in the future and give my feedback, for what it's worth. I've enjoyed your OS's immensely. About to test out 3.7 as I've started to lean
toward KDE since Gnome 3 came out. <BREW>

I think you .....meaning....you.....not us as a collective team....are churning far too many releases out.

No offence & I know you will not take it as such but people just get Ultimate Edition installed, next week there is another.....I feel this is driving people away.

Thoughts?

I think the releases were far too behind. Its good that by 4.0 we may catch up. It can cause trouble to some with less knowledge or slow internet like me where i cant' download each and every release. But keeping in mind ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 have only 9 month support its better to release ultimate within 3 months of ubuntu release.

Just a question..Thee Mahn are you trying to build an os from complete source or debian base ? if that happens you could control the release cycles every 2 years based on debian testing...? And are 3.7 and 3.8 built the same way 3.6 was built..?

RE: the 3.8 wallpaper, i think it's one of the most beautiful you've ever done. It's gorgeous. Very classy.

As for the number of versions, i'm torn. I like having the choices but have had terrible luck with the last 5 or 6 versions. The latest i've tried is 3.7 and it worked on Live, but it had no visible cursor. I imagine that problem would have worked itself out if i installed it but i decided to not install until i start to see that people are having better luck with installs. I have loved Ultimate right from the beginning but not lately. No offense. You asked for comments. I keep coming back for more Ultimate. It has the potential of being the best distro ever.

Variety is the spice of life, is awesome to have the selection, since am sure none of those OS's are absolutely identical. Plus with the hardware out here, some computers will respond better to one while another will not. Picture is awesome would love to see a tad more coloring in it, but of course you know am very very fanatical for colors! The design is primo! One area will have to get into at some point as thus far can not make a design! Linux is constantly on the move with new programs and files, I think TheeMahn is doing a perfect job in staying apprised and continually creating. Even though I have not come nowhere near perfection in the creation of any of my OS's I see the importance of continually creating as one continually learns to make the OS better! As said, not the greatest of connections over here, so is unfortunate I can not check/use any of them! Also a shame, I can not continually create due to these limitations as I do feel am moving forward in this. At present pace, maybe another year and would put one of mine up for download. Just no genius, but I can at least appreciate a genius's work such as TheeMahn's. Am always for progression and enjoy seeing it and continually hope it never ends!!!!

My goal is to have Ultimate Edition 4.1 dropped when 14.04 drops. I too am not happy with the release of 3.6 nor 3.7 buggy from the rip when building it. I know everyone feels it is my job to fix bugs. I love to do so when those bugs are of my doing. I do not take any enjoyment in fixing bugs that Ubuntu has made.

I have in the past cruised over to launch pad to not only report a bug, but instruct them how to correct the issue. To be returned with great cynicism. I have contemplated skipping the releases of 3.6 through 4.0. The build of 3.8 finally started falling into place. I do not know if you gentlemen know this or not but I built a Ultimate Edition 2.6.8, a blast to the past when things just work. Will be pushing it to the server today. I have had requests for resurrecting 2.7. We shall see.
