Install of 3.6 (and 3.7) stalls on eMachine
Posted: Thu Nov 28, 2013 6:01 pmI have tried to install both versions 3.6 & 3.7 and every time it stalls while installing the devices (while still in "terminal mode") before it even gets to the first graphical screen. This occurs if I try to select Live Mode or Install from the initial menu. Selecting safe graphics mode does not help.
I am installing from a USB flash drive which was created using Unetbootin. I know the ISO is ok because the MD5 checksum is correct, and I have been able to go into Live Mode or Install with the USB on another PC.
I am attempting to install on an eMachines T5230 - specs are available here - http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachi ... 93849.html - but I can provide more detailed info if needed. I currently have Linux Royal on this machine, and have installed Linux Mint, Ubuntu 12.04 and BackBox on it with no problems during installation. I created and formatted the partitions where I am installing Ultimate.
After selecting Live Mode or Install, the program begins installing the needed devices. Everything comes to a grinding halt when it is apparently done with installing the USB devices. I assume it then encounters a device it is unable to install the drivers for, but have no way of knowing what it is. I tried disconnecting various USB devices (headphones, etc. ) to see if it was one of them, but it still kept stalling before showing the device that was causing the problem.
I know it may be a little hard to diagnose the information I have given. Does Ultimate create some sort of log during installation that I could upload here? I assume I would need to allow space to preserve files across reboots when I create the install USB for this to work. Print Screen obviously won't work since there is nothing running I could save the image to.
