Ok I can't seem to install 3.6 the beta no problem, but when I try to install this version, it won't get passed the preparing to install section. It just hangs and I have tried it on a usb stick and a disk.. I also have downloaded and burned twice...

Just suggested this to another post, as this just happened to me with trying out 3rd OS I assembled. Suggest doing the 5 minute Sea Tools erase. Yes you can see I also have a Seagate, but is just a 1tb. Am sure the tools are the same and it goes by quick. I loaded up my 3rd OS, was not right so had to move back to my 2nd. 2nd just froze on load so once I did the 5 min erase, went right back and loaded the 2nd back up from flash drive and was up and at in about 20 minutes. These Linux OS's leave a residual behind and some times they catch the OS going in and stop it! Have seen it a few times. Windows too! I figure somewhere around 3 or 4 loads with an OS should do this. Otherwise the checkmark in format suffices when loading. Best to always set what filesystem you want! Automatic is not always the best choice! Hope this helps, if not post back one of us will get you there!

This drive I'm trying to install on is my WD 150Gb Raptor.. I have diamond ll installed and wanted to install this along side it to see how things will go.. I will wipe the drive anyway and try 3.6 again when I get home from work in the early am. thanks for the tip..

Theemahn has admitted, this is not his best work. This is the first OS he has built using debootstrap. You are not alone in the problems you face. He's working on a newer more rigid base.

In the meantime try passing a few parameters(you already might have) at boot time in grub like:
nomodeset
ACPI=off

Another ugly method would be to try and boot from Ultimate Edition flash disk but at the same time put in your similarly(Ultimate Edition 3.6) burnt dvd-rom in the drive. It should start searching for a cd/dvd and pull in contents from there.

I have downloaded from both COPY and SOURCEFORGE and get the same results; i.e. Ultimate Edition 3.6 64bit will not install on my hard drive or in Virtual Box. I have downloaded the image several times from each site with a 30+ Mb connection. The MD5 sums have been compared to the MD5 Hash list on COPY,useing MD5 Hasher 1.0 in Windows 7 and the sums don't match. Although the generated MD5 from the download is consistently the same. The list says it should be 5fc61be3a988869bbed137bd3f1d3032 The generated MD5 of Ultimate Edition 3.6 X64 by MD5 Hasher consistently comes out 4183293e837300a41e5d64a2b70d2ae. Does this mean the list is wrong or is the image on COPY corrupted?
I'm very much bewildered and a little disappointed that I have to go back to my 3.2 install

EUREKA!!!!!!! I got Ultimate Edition 3.6 Full amd64 installed ! I had to disconnect all drives but one which I wiped and repartitioned. I installed UE3.6 Lite 32 bit; then downloaded 3.6 Full
64 bit, put it on a flash drive and booted from it. Selected install and had it replace the previous installation and everything went smoothly. So far my only complaint is that I no longer have the maximize,minimize and close buttons on the windows but am working on that now.
