I can't get 3.6 installed

This is a HP Pavilion Verde SE a6645f with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e processor, 8 gigs RAM, an nvidia 8500 video card, and a soundblaster Audigy sound card dualbooting Windows 7 and Ubuntu GNOME. Ubuntu GNome runs fine on this machine. I'm using it to post this.

When I inserted the Ultimate disk and fired it up it went to where it looks like it detects my cdrw drive and quits there with a blinking cursor. Tried the "Try Ultimate" way and "Install Ultimate" way. I, even, tried the "check disk" option and ended up at the same place as with my other attempts. I'm not 100% sure but it seems like there may not be much input allowed from the keyboard. What ever I try ends up at the same place in the scrolling start up info with a blinking cursor. I'm not sure how to get a picture of this short of taking a picture with a camera and posting that.
I'm not a newbie to Ultimate. this one (3.6) is the first one to give me this kind of trouble.

I hope you do not take this up wrong at all! Not as swift as many others on here. Am just wonder if you have tried to format that partition prior to installing Ultimate. See as much as I mess with OS's(am terrible with that!) I find every so often 3 0r 4 loads have to full format or no dice. These quick ubuntu formats leaves a lot behind. So I got to the point where I use 2 hard drives to accomplish what I am talking about. Generally, in fact this morning did a 5 minute erase with Sea Tools on my 1tb drive as my 3rd home built OS, is not good yet! Also quite curious and also to help someone else more knowledgeable get you more assistance as if you tried loading by flash drive or CD? Linux systems have an uncanny thing about picking up leftovers on a hard drive as I call it! This happened to me as I had to move back to my 2nd OS and in doing so, did not load the first time, so I had to do the 5 min format and presto back up! So figured would throw that in as to hopefully help. If does not get back with us and am sure one of us will figure what is going wrong!
