NOAPIC OPTION?

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 3.6

NOAPIC OPTION?

Postby Not-a-RINO » Thu Oct 31, 2013 10:43 am

I have tried to install Ultimate Edition 3.6 on an older HP machine and I keep getting a kernel panic stating I should use the noapic option. I have gone into the advanced options, expert and command line and added noapic after the "--" mark and it didn't work; I've tried deleting the whole line and put in noapic with no success; I have put in kernel: noapic with no success; I've tried boot: noapic and that doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? After I edit the line in the command line or expert mode, I hit ENTER, back and Install Ultimate Edition, but the same error comes up as if I didn't edit anything. I give up and am ready to throw myself out a basement window. Any suggestions on how I can get around this?

Thanks for yor time and trouble! :vil2_torero

try "acpi=off" or/and "nolapic" at the end of the line.

Thanks, Pam, but none of it worked. I tried all options using nolapic and acpi=off before and after the hash marks in Expert and command line modes. I also went through and used acpi=off and noapic, but it also failed. I check the DVD for errors and it comes out clean. The computer won't even go to the live desktop without the kernel panic.

I suppose it's, "If at first you don't succeed, well, so much for skydiving."

Thanks for trying.
