Hello Everyone,
I am lost, I tried to find a solution for this but I am not able to find it anywhere. The default setting in Libre Office, i.e. the dark background is making things very hard. I have a few excel sheets which I want to Read/Edit but the default background really makes it difficult. The text color is Black and there are a few cells with other background colors which do not show up. I like the theme on other applications however for office I need a different on. Can someone please help me out. How do I change the background for LibreOffice(i.e. the automatic color setting should be white). I tried changing the appearence settings however this is not what I want as it does not show the correct background colors.

Welcome aboard,

Could you post a screenshot here..?

Changing the theme will help you for sure.

And the other part where some menu's don't show up is a libre office bug. What you can do is
1. uninstalled all libreoffice packages with Synaptic Package Manager,
2. downloaded the Main Installer and the LibreOffice built-in help from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/ ,
3. extracted the compressed packages and
4. followed the instruction in the "readmes"
All menus items will now be legible

hope this helps :)

If this is in 3.5 KDE, you can adjust with

systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors

So I had a sneaking suspicion and I had to find out...

Open a Terminal

Code: Select all
sudo -s

Code: Select all
dbus-launch libreoffice

THIS IS ROOT.

So be careful, have fun.

I should point out..if you go root and save at root you will have to give permissions to open the file, it's far better to just change the colors.
