Ultimate Edition 3.5 is basically Ultimate Edition KDE. If you don't want to do a fresh install and you want KDE you should install a later version than 4.8.5 that is on 3.5 through kubuntu backports. If you do not like KDE there really is no reason to switch from 3.4.
