Ultimate Edition 3.5 is based on ubuntu 12.04
and ubuntu is based on debian.
Debian is way better than ubuntu in stability and hardware driver integrity.
If you do not face any problems on debian, its a true testament to quality.
Your disconnection problem for your card has been going on for a long time. Infact even i faced the same problem with a trendnet adapter.
Its a bug.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1605285In your profile it shows you are using Ultimate Edition 3.1
Are you using Ultimate Edition 3.5?
phlegm wrote:looking back on Ultimate Edition I do not view it as a custom system, it was more like a bunch of anything and everything thrown in to a multishell package, which was quite boggy and laggy.
Then What hardware are you using? Please state it in your signature. If you are using very old hardware use Ultimate Edition 2.6 and if newer then Ultimate Edition 3.5
As for your complaint on the bloatedness of Ultimate Edition, its a fortunate OS for those who do not have a fast internet connection nor a consistent one.
Those who want to experiment don't need to hunt for packages nor dependencies.
Also installing nvidia drivers is not friendly on linux.
See if this helps in installing Nvidia drivers:
