Even 12.6 is faulty but not detrimental......unlike 12.8
12.8 would require 3-4 reboots just to load hdmi audio.
12.6 loads everything but compiz tears on the screen..........this again requires a reboot and everything becomes normal.
I Installed kernel 3.6.3 and problems are reminiscent of the default 3.2 kernel albeit system is more responsive.
When i used the default open source gallium driver present in 3.6.3 compiz and effects were awesome and buttery...BUT that hdmi sound thing needs to be taken care.
I dont know but if i read correctly hdmi sound code must be present....anyways..
The default gallium driver should be enough for most users and custom HTPC without hdmi audio out, but if you do gaming you "need" AMD's proprietary drivers as frame rates increase a 100 fold
