Wifi not working on HP Laptop

Feedback for Ultimate Edition 4.2

Wifi not working on HP Laptop

Postby Tool » Sat Aug 30, 2014 1:06 am

Hi guys, took Ultimate Edition 4.2 Gamers 32 bit for a test on live disk. My wifi isn't picking up anything and I have lots of wifi. The wifi is on and additional drivers says I am currently using an alternate Broadcom driver. Everything's working out the box even my quick launch touch panel, but not the wifi. Any suggestions?

Broadcom 4322AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter Is my wifi model and I'm on an HP Pavilion dv4-1275mx Entertainment Notebook PC

Thanks guys.

I have similar issues with my Lenovo and Dell so you could try installing the bcmwl Kernel source. With me, my wi-fi partially works, like..it will go but then if there is anything heavy going on it crashes out. With Lenovo it is partially because of the kill switch(but I need such things)

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source

Code: Select all
sudo modprobe wl

Code: Select all
iwconfig

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:

bcmwl may be the problem then..

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source

Code: Select all
sudo reboot

No go. All it did was remove the proprietary driver altogether and had nothing available for a Wi-Fi connection. I got the driver to work in Ubuntu and Lubuntu with no issue. I'm currently building my new PC with a quad core AMD and can't wait to give this a go on that. :-)

On an unrelated note, how do I go about doing this?
It's a grub config edit. Do I just simply input into the terminal?
