Sorry Bill, I will need more information.
Windows 7 Minimum Requirements.
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Now that we have the requirements for Windows out of the way we should never speak of this again.
Moving on...
Is this the 4.2 Lite version, the beta, or...I won't lie, I get lost here, and probably will not install any of them anytime soon. But I do need a specific version for reference purposes.
How are you watching the videos?
Netflix maybe? This would explain a lot, as it is most likely not being run natively.
Chrome Browser? Firefox Browser? Perhaps a video player that is streaming, if so which one?
What is your CPU running at when not doing anything?
What is your RAM at when not doing anything?
Does your CPU run high when running a browser?
Outside of this, there are a few things you can do to free up some RAM.(which in theory, would free up processes, thus less heat...theeeeoretically)(This is how I roll on my Ancient Toshiba, #! Style)
Drop the theme, get something very simple.
Drop the icons, see above
Go into startup..you may want to kill all of this..like yarssr, internet radio, etc..., it is Mate, you can literally create launchers for all of this in seconds if you need any of it. The important thing to keep in mind is running processes. These are no hindrance for someone who is RAM heavy, the rest of us have no use for such extravagance on our running processes.
Is there a Graphics Card on this?
Is your Laptop dirty? (No offense, but it does happen)
Before it shuts down, do you get a message referencing Kernel panic?
That's all I can think of for the moment, someone with 4.2 installed may know more than me.
