power off and "lost" OS

hi. i installed 4.2 without any issues however when i shut down i got logged out? ok i can power off manually but....
the other thing is when i shut pc down and rebooted this morning i "lost" my whole OS and had to reinstall! it appeared my HDD could not be found and files were missing from POST. very strange

ram 16 gig ddr3 @1333mhz kingston
hdd 2tb seagate
cpu 3.9 gig fx 6 core piledriver

have to ask you a couple questions: do you have multiple hard drives? it could be that the grub loader is on the second drive. It does sound like a grub issue to me.

Seems like 100% BIOS related.
I dont think you lost any data. BIOS could not detect the disk.

Solution:
In the BIOS section change SATA type from IDE to AHCI.
Also make sure you run your disk as SATA and not IDE.
