I am a Newbie at this. I searched Google and read similar posts on this forum and followed the recomended fixes using terminal and synaptic, I still haven't resolved the issue of trying to get wine 1.7 to download. I tried keysnatcher -e and -f. here are the results.

Code: Select all
dennis@dennis-Presario-CQ61-Notebook-PC:~$ sudo keysnatcher -f

Reading package lists... Done
Missing keys if any successfully snatched.

I also used synaptic to fix broken packages. it said broken packages fixed succesfuly. tried to download wine 1.7 and got this message.
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

I also used in terminal sudo apt-get update.
it said resolved old packages.
I tried sudo apt-get install wine
it said I have held packages.

I also tried this and still haven't resolved the issue.
Terminal
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade --fix-missing

I would appreciate any advice. I am trying to learn as I go and I do ask for your patience with me on this.

I think what you mean is keysnatcher -e not -s since that is not part of the command triggers. I constantly mistype things so figured would inject this so no error is made. Also remember keysnatcher -h if you need to know all the functions and capabilities. Talk about one of the most useful tools in linux is keysnatcher. Personally have found it as a real lifesaver since these repo's change their addresses just about as much as I change my underwear. I know is a definite exageration, but is close enough and you talk about being grateful TheeMahn came up with this gem, I am totally there. No OS I ever build will be without all the tools TheeMahn makes. Is the same as having Craftsman/SnapOn tools in your garage makes zero sense to ever be without the best.

Am going to mention another thing, since I know how 15.04 is in the works and this tends to mess different packages up in Ubuntu's Repo's. So if the above does not work, best would be to go to the horse's mouth so to speak and sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa then apt-get update. Then apt-get install wine1.7. I go through this a lot when I hit the start of new builds. Seems these repos get scrambled sometimes. Funny thing 40 mb's could be perfect and I kb is not and presto, no installation happens. Have a millions stories like that, but will not bore you to tears that way as hope all that have mentioned gets wine installed for you. Believe me have yet to run any Linux OS without it.
