Great run down, painted a clear picture for sure.

I am embarrassed to say I have yet to encounter any left handed clients.

Thus, have yet to (experience the need to switch buttons)

But - the day will undoubtedly come. I shall dig into this a bit.

What I have learned

A little app called tpconfig , can be installed via software manager.

To use, open terminal and type sudo tpconfig.

This will allow the config of the alps touch pad.

I also see that not all kernels support alps. 3.0.0-9.14 kernel is one of the few that shows apls support via mouse tool in system/mouse.

A tutorial for installing this kernel can be found here.

All I could find was sudo tpconfig to start it.

Your going to have to take that and run with it using google.

let us know what you find please.
