I can read the Internet, I understand this is a highly anticipated release at lease for those gaming type. This release was developed solely with the gamer in mind. I wish I had the time to join you for a game or two, I have been quite busy building Ultimate Edition 3.0. I am currently over at Meisters house and just finished building what will be a new toy for you ladies and gentlemen. I am going to keep that hush hush for now.

With the recent release of Ultimate Edition 3.0 Lite, I feel why not let the fellas have a stab at Ultimate Edition Gamers a day or 2 before the official public announcement.

BTW is Ultimate Edition 3.0 Gamers the same as Ultimate Edition 3.0 with games added ... or is Ultimate Edition 3.0 gonna be different from it???

not much of a linux gamer .. but I'll give it a try ... sad thing is I usually install linux with a 3.7 GB flash drive .. and Gamers is more than this .. hmmm ... no worries might try see if it will work using my external harddrive ..

Can't Wait for Ultimate Edition 3.0 I check the forum like 20x a day that's how anxious I am for it's ultimate release ..

awesome, theemahn. I really liked 2.8 Gamers, I'm sure I'll like this one, and if Gnome 2.xx is default, I'll enjoy it even more (and since it is, that's definitely the case.)

btw, Theemahn, you really should get a tournament going for those of us who have Ultimate Edition gamers when you get a chance. one where you'll actually be playing too. just a suggestion.

Not to seem like an idiot, the 32 bit version will run O.K. on a 64 bit machine, won't it? Also if I heard right the full version is based on Xubuntu Xfce? Or is it Kubuntu KDE? Gotta be better than Unity or Gnome 3! I'm downloading Gamer's now! Of course, this is one time my cable internet decides to CRAWL! Wahhh!

It is based on lubuntu XFCE.

Edit: Sorry to edit your post... Yes it is based on Lubuntu, but based on Openbox / LXDE as is Ultimate Edition 3.0 Lite.

Thank you, Guru! I thought that was the case. Of course, I'm sure everyone's first choice would be Gnome 2, but that went by the wayside. I thought KDE would be my second choice, but I've played around with a couple of Distros, from Live CD and in a VM and the more I messed with it, the more I didn't like it! To top it off, I downloaded an old Distro the other day that had KDE 3.x.x in it and now I see why everyone complained about KDE 4. They are supposed to have a Gnome-KDE joint meeting coming up, I wonder what we can expect out of that?

From what I've seen, I think XFCE is a real good compromise at this time. Hey, Linus switched to it! I tried a Russian distro the other day called VESTA. It had a Java desktop. Really slick, animated desktop icons, animted menu icons, even had the new FireFox v8 beta nightly build if you wanted it! I thought I'd check memory and CPU usage, so I opened a terminal and typed in htop, sure enough 50% CPU at idle! I shut that down quick! Real shame because it looked so good!

I tried the British mirror, it's just as slow! Probably everyone trying to download it at once.
