new nvidia drivers

Postby rody » Wed Jul 28, 2010 11:01 pm

Well I am a gamer, or maybe I used to be a gamer and am not just old and delusional, But I like to have the latest drivers and being that Ultimate Edition does not automatically update to the latest nvidia video drivers ...

Open a terminal
paste
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

The xswat ppa updates drivers within days of official release by nvidia. Best of all it doesn't break anything in Ubuntu, no need for any hacks to make it boot or work. Also when kernel gets updated, it fixes itself via dkms so save yourself all the hassle in case you don't wish to go through the routine of manual install for now.

This is not anything i put to gether I just stole it from Linuxforall on the ubuntu fourms.

Are there a list of updates to the current driver from the previous? Im using a 400 series card and also a Dedicated PhysX GPU. I realize this tech isnt supported in ANYTHING i do in ubuntu, but im still curious.
