Glest how to set up server/multiplayer over LAN

Postby dathem » Mon Jun 28, 2010 3:18 pm

Hello, We have tried several times to get several PC over LAN to connect to play GLEST as a multi-player game. The very skimp instructions on the Glest web site, make it sound like child's play. But the game has a server ID displayed, that is not changeable to what my ID would be. (or we don't know how to change it) the only other option is "previous"..........I know it is a FREE game but a few other games make multi-player simple to connect several PC over LAN; ie Tremulous, URBAN TERROR, Alien Arena. IS there a trick we just don't know? Thanks!

Dude, goto the link below and get the latest fork of Glest (Glest is no longer maintained). MG (Mega-Glest contains lots of new stuff and is designed for network play):

http://sourceforge.net/projects/megaglest/files/

But to get it working, on the server end you "open network slots" by clicking the arrows. Then on the lcient you click join and enter the IP Address of the Server and click join (or connect or something).

MG gives an auto-find for LAN play, and a master server where people can find each other.
