Lol...."time"...
A reinstall in Wind will take you close to 20 hours....that is just to even scratch the surface of what Ultimate Edition does offer in a Distro...My install took about 20 min....plus another 30 for updates and so on...
If I am not mistaken....TheeMahn is setting up the "Big Picture"...where he does not have to spend his time in making a "Gamers"....we can all do it through Ultamatix's
"Back up your Data"
"May I never lose the view of a nubie"
"Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, teach a man how to fish , he will eat a lifetime"

Wow, I searched Ultimate Edition 2.6 in google #1 here, they will eventually catch up ;) I am looking for someone that released it prematurely ;) We are good, we don't have any snitches in house ;) Beautiful, our admin are off the hook.

Will there be a gamers? Sure, after 2.7 is what I am thinking and will be called 2.6 gamers. I will step back for that 1. Cowboy is correct Ultamatix is a special tool when it comes to games. I could release 2.7 now if I wanted to, I want things to calm down prior to such an event. As of current and still not 24 hrs:
02 May 2010 19485 138480 455820 13.35 GB

138,480 page views capable of 1/2 a mill now, one site we have 9. The storm is here. Petabytes is what I promise. A day or 2 and monthly xfer records are smashed. Please hold off that mode of thinking. When it calms down 2.7 will drop, followed shortly behind Gamers, please sit tight. I can assure the default server will be ours. I look forward to beating you down. Finetuch is your admin there, sad I have to admin his server. Tomorrow will be his day of education on setting up a gaming server. Don't you wish you lived here? I am all about education.

When it comes to a computer there is not much I don't know. A search of just plain jane "ultimate edition" does it land you here or Micro$oft? When I am done the giant will go down. Most do not understand why I renamed "U U E" to just "Ultimate Edition" 2 reasons feel free to tell me why now.

downloaded both the 64 and 32 bit versions of Ultimate Edition 2.6 G and ... was out of DVD-Rs so I have to wait a little to install it!
r.e. install time, well I've done about a dozen reinstalls with the various flavors of Ubuntu, and while none of them are really tough, Ultimate Edition is the easiest. I don't have to reinstall all my programs, because they are already there. I have some settings and Firefox addons to install, Tbird to set up (amazingly easy with TB 3) and bingo! probably all told about an hour to get it back to wear I like it.

Hello Team & users on the Forum.

OK here is my test that past very well with no issues at all !!!
Let me give you all the process to get the 2.6 to work better and faster (and solve some issues with wireless )
So the problems on the U.E start as I have said in the beginning with the low Kernel that we have on 2.6!!!
Here is the Guide for you hope you will see the Difference with how your system work After the upgrade. ;)

How To: Upgrade your kernel, painlessly.

If in the outside chance you feel you need to upgrade your kernel for any particular reason, this is how you do it THE EASY WAY.
Note that this guide requires no compiling and works for U.E and Ubuntu only (it's probable that this works for other Ubuntu derivatives, but I haven't tested it and can therefore offer no opinion).

- 1 - Go to this website http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and you'll see a huge directory tree of kernels. Find the directory for the kernel you want/need and click on it.

- 2 - In each of these directories you're going to see "BUILD.LOG", "CHANGES", three items that begin with "linux-headers", two that begin with "linux-image" and one that begins with "linux-source". The "BUILD.LOG", "CHANGES", and "linux-source" are completely unimportant right now. We're only worried about "linux-headers" and "linux-image".

- 3 - Download and then install the following IN THIS ORDER: first get the linux-headers file that ends with "all.deb". Second get the linux-headers file that ends with "i386.deb" or "amd64.deb" depending upon what architecture you need. Finally get the linux-image file that ends with "i386.deb" or "amd64.deb" again depending upon what architecture you need. Honestly it doesn't really matter what order you download them in, but you need to make absolutely sure that you install them in this order.

- 4 - Reboot your computer and you're done.

The files can be download from here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/ma ... .34-lucid/

Now I use the 2.6.34-lucid !!!
Those are the files that I use for the 32 bit on my machine:

linux-headers-2.6.34-020634-generic_2.6.34-020634_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.34-020634_2.6.34-020634_all.deb
linux-image-2.6.34-020634-generic_2.6.34-020634_i386.deb

This is safe to do so do not be afraid to make the upgrade for your system. <BREW>

For all of you the use the 64 - please download the files of the 64 bit and install them.

Now 2.6 work nice <BREW> ;)

OK not quite done. .34 does not show up in grub (1.9x) so i am digging around to see how to get it to show, I suspect supergrubdisk would do it, but I am trying to do it in Ultimate Edition

If you installed it in the right order it should show up automatically. Now if you are running more than one version of Ultimate Edition or have ubuntu installed remember the one that was installed last controls grubs menu so you would have to run
Code: Select all
sudo update-grub

in that OS.
