visual effects issue

Postby patti » Fri Jan 15, 2010 1:01 am

I have a Toshiba L505-S6946. Am running Ultimate Edition Gamers. It is a dual boot with windoze vista. After installing Gamers I no longer have any video drivers. I can't activate visual effects, also, the VGA adapter on the side of my laptop is not working. I can no longer hook it to my tv. I'm not sure, but I think this is one issue. I went into device mang. in vista and it tells me there are no drivers installed in my video controller or my VGA controller. Every time I start up windoze I have a window pop up that tells me I have no drivers for these controllers. It attempts to find them online but isn't able too and I do not have a recovery disk. I do not know how to locate what kind of graphics card is in my laptop. If you need this info please instruct me on how to find it either in windoze or Gamers and I will provide it. Thanks for reading.

Hello patti ! :D Sorry to keep you waiting, To find your hardware in "vista" try this and post your findings ! ;)
*

Open System by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

> View basic information about your computer

System presents a summary view of basic details about your computer, including:

===> Device Manager. Use Device Manager to change settings and update drivers.

This should show the system hardware. :ugeek:

Hi Patti,
These should be your Specs;

To install the drivers for Vista, you will need to surf over to Toshibas Home page and then support/download drivers, and find the right ones specific to your unit. MS will only provide basic VGA to get you operational.
With regard to Gamers, you may wish to look into the Gamers posts here on the forum and look for Intel drivers solutions - sorry not fobbing you off, just at work at the moment with very little free time.

P.S. I can't see how installing Gamers could have possibly removed your drivers from Vista....? :shock:

Cheers.
