Does Ultimate Edition Gamers' Edition 2.3 Include "Regular" 2.3?

Postby Driver » Wed Sep 23, 2009 5:53 am

Hello, just trying to keep (get) the different choices straight. Does the recently released UGE2.3 include everything that UE2.3 does?

Thanks and glad to be here!

Looks like it does to me. It looks like TheeMann (in addition to some tweaking) basically added 2 GB of games to the distro

Yah ! you beauty - been waiting for this one :D

EDIT: couldn't use torrent - not enough seeders :(
& took Four Attempts to get it direct ;)
&& the md5 was not obvious either.

EDIT2: it's also now available on http://files.bigpond.com - for those who have BPH as their isp.

well, it's not exactly the same as the 2.3 release, it's gnome only, to keep it on a single DVD

Hi driver,
Ultimate Edition 2.3 Has additional GUIś (graphic user interfaces) such as KDE etc.. Gamers version does not - as per billhedrickś post. ;)
Gamers edition does have a bunch of additional games as well as ´Playonlinux´ to facilitate Windows games on Linux. If you wish to have the best of both worlds, I would suggest you hang on to the standard Ultimate Edition 2.3 and install the games via Ultamatix. That way you can create your own Penultimate Edition 2.3 (P.E. 2.3) ;)

Also, Gamers Edition is a 32bit version as some games don´t like 64bit yet

Cheers.

Simple answer - Yes and Yes. But if that is the only reason you want Ultimate Edition Gamers, then you can save yourself a download and simply install 'PlayOnLinux' on your current Ultimate Edition using Ubuntu Tweak (Applications->System Tools) ;)
