The gamer editon is 32 bit for and has a wack of games. The 2.0 is available in 32 bit or 64 bit without most of the games. If you like to play a lot of games, download that one. If you want a faster leaner operating system, then download the 64 bit 2.0(provided your cpu can handle 64 bit).
If your not sure download the 2.0 32 bit and add the games you want. It's up to you.

Everything works fine, or seems too, except for the firewall, it says "fail" when the os is booting and I have to start it manually. I especially like the dual boot setup. I'm trying to set it up like in that install guide.

I'm following the install guide I linked to in first post, it has a firewall setup, and I figure its good to have?

I mean, even if I screw up, I can always just reinstall, its a breeze compared to windows. I cant even install windows on my pci-express computer, I have to install on a agp computer and move harddrives, these linux os's have no problems installing and are fast.

Good luck to you. It is a long procedure. Tell us what you want to do and we can guide you. Like I said this is one person's opinion not the official Ultimate guide(there isn't one). You will have your own ideas as to how you want things to work. Most of what you read in this forum are ideas. You will have to decide if they are right for you. You could start by going to this website and adding it to your repository list and then go to Synaptic Package Manager and hit refresh.
http://www.medibuntu.org/
This is where you can add or remove software(they are called packages in Linux). You can also start opening up software from your start menu and have a close look at them. Throw in a music cd see if it plays and what program is playing it. Put in a dvd. See what happens. Try playing some of your mp3s. See if they work. And so on and so on. Go on the web. See if you can play a flash video(you will need to go to Adobe's website and download and install the Ubuntu .deb file).
,
A quick guide. A bin file is a binary or executable(in Windows). The binary will launch a program. Most of your bin files are located in your /usr/bin directory. A lib file is a library file like a dll(Windows). For example: libdvdcss2 will give you support for playing encrypted dvds. Open up your system files and familiarize yourself with where things are located. Confused yet!! I know I am.

I did a fresh install, to see if it works right from the go and after activating the nvidia drivers, updating and putting on adobe flash I started to see if stuff worked and the first thing I tried was streaming russiatoday and it doesnt work. Totem browser plugin opens a window in firefox, tries to load it and then stops. I also tried to stream at livenewscameras.com and some worked and some like russiatoday and aljeezera didnt, again totem player. Dvd doesnt play past the opening in totem or vlc.

The flash works, I can play quicktime trailers, graphic drivers work because the screen savers are smooth and not slow. Sound works.

Try this:
Go to the Adobe site and install the flash player with the .deb extension for Ubuntu
Go to the Opera website and install opera web browser
Open up opera and see if your video plays
Add the medibuntu repository first.
Go to Synaptic Package Manager.
Install totem xine.
Remove totem gstreamer.
Install libdvdcss2
Put in a dvd and see if it will play with totem
Here are the links:

If this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you because it always works for me.
