Ultimate Gamers 2.0 issue

Postby Nomad77 » Wed Jan 07, 2009 4:10 pm

I seem to be missing something. I downloaded the 4GB file and unzipped it. I then Opened up Daemon tools to mount the ISO on a virtual drive. To my surprise there is a setup instead of an ISO. So I open up that and it proceeds to download another 700MB and asks me to reboot. So I reboot and I got nothing.

What am I missing?

If you are trying to use it with a virtual machine you will be very dissapointed. A full hard drive install is the only way to go to get full enjoyment out of it. You can use unetbootin to have it boot from a usb drive if you don't want to burn a dvd(provided you have a big usb drive and boot options in you bios) to boot from a usb device.

It only supports Gamers Ed. 1.6. Is there one that supports 2.0 Gamers Ed.? Is a 8GB thumb drive big enough?

I think pch.shot was saying you can use Unetbootin to make a bootable usb drive and add the ISO to the usb drive, then install it on it's own partition.

My unetbootin is a little rusty so bear with me here:
download Unetbootin
make sure your usb pendrive is formatted fat32
make sure you know the address of where you parked the Ultimate Edition 2.0 Gamers ISO
(yes it needs to be in the ISO format, not unpacked)
plug in the USB drive
open Unetbootin
leave the top part blank since you already have the iso
go down to the ISO section and point it to where you have the iso stored
have it make the usb drive bootable and add the iso
let it do it's thing
when it's finished, make sure your bios is set to boot from the USB
reboot and install from the USB drive to the partition for Ultimate Edition 2.0 Gamers

You will still need to install your video drivers to get 3D effects, the generic drivers are just to get you to your desktop.

Well I followed your instructions but after rebooting it said "boot from CD/DVD" twice and then just started windows. I assume the "USB FDD" is referring to a USB Flash Drive, which is what I set to boot first.

I could be mistaken, but FDD used to mean Floppy Disk Drive, So one could assume USB FDD was a USB Floppy drive.
You might want to recheck your Bios settings. Sometimes they'll have it listed under the hard drive section.
