I only own UT3, and I was bummed out when I found out that they still don't have a linux finished for it :(

As far as UT2004, here is an installation quide.
http://www.linuxelectrons.com/features/ ... 2004-linux

And as far as running it, I'm not sure what you're looking for but you'll need the proper graphics drivers installed first. And I would recommend not running Compiz or any other desktop effects to maximize performance and stability.

I would recommend checking this mod out.

There have been two ways to go about this, either through Wine, or Loki:

I have UT99 running on Ultimate Edition 2.0, and it run's great, provided you have the video drivers working correctly,

Here is a link to a friend of mine's post about installing UT:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=289796

I downloaded the Loki installer for the regular version of UT99.
Run the installer and have the 1st cd in the drive, and installs fine.

if you want to play in opengl, then go download the ut patch 451, but don't install it, just extract it to a folder on your desktop, then go to the /system directory and find anything to do with opengl and move it over to your /home/yourname/ut/system folder, then edit your unrealtournament.ini to look like this where it says engine.engine

[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem
NetworkDevice=IpDrv.TcpNetDriver
DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver
Console=UTMenu.UTConsole
;Console=XConsole.XConsole
Language=int
GameEngine=Engine.GameEngine
EditorEngine=Editor.EditorEngine
DefaultGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
DefaultServerGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
ViewportManager=SDLDrv.SDLClient
Render=Render.Render
Input=Engine.Input
Canvas=Engine.Canvas

save, and play.

Hope this works for you.

Hey Strider,

Glad I was able to have some info on it. Previous suggests are correct, I did have to turn off any extras, comp fusion, and I just right clicked on desktop, change background, clicked on Visual Effects tab, and just clicked None. My Unreal Tournament is the origional version ( UT99 ) and it forces full screen, and it's game play is night and day better than the other OS ( Win ) I can't believe how much better it plays on Ultimate Edition!!!!.
I'm having fun learning something totally new, but I'm very new to Ultimate Edition, and to Linux, so it's been hard to get down, but it's very helpful being here with so much support!!
Thanks.

Well,
I was doing great untill I unplugged my usb logitech mouse while I was playing a UT99, and now when I play UT, my mouse will all of a sudden just stop working, and I have a difficult time exiting the game, and then my mouse is dead, I can't even shut down the computer.
I tried searching but did not find any thing.

I forgot to mention this: I was using the ps2 / usb adaptor, and I tried unplugging that and tried using just a usb port, and that's what happened, if I just use the adaptor in the PS2 plug it seems to be working ok.
Are there any special USB drivers around?

Hi Nick,

Yes, I even tried switching different brands of usb mouse, and they would not work, I switched back to the origional mouse using the PS/2 to usb adaptor, and it works, but something changed with my left button, while playing UT, I could hold the mouse button to shoot 5 missles at a time, but now it only shoots 2, like some settings changed when this all happened. I looked in system, preferences, mouse, and it seems to be working ok, but I would need to find where the motherboard config area is. I notice something when this boots up that " the usb device could not be trunicated " when it's loading everything past post screen, wondering what that could be.

Edit:
error after boot up past post screen, 4.200029, unable to enumerate usb device on port 2. I have switched to three different usb mouse, and none of them will work after boot up, I have to log in, then press the shut-down button on case, and it will shutt down automatically.

This was very wierd, changing mouse 3 differnt times and re-booting, something sounds wierd, but it's happening to both machines, this machine I'm on now has Ultimate Edition 2.0 Gamers-32bit, and it happens on my UE-2.0-64bit machine also, I was thinking motherboard issue, but on the same thing on 2 machines.

I'm still unable to use Ultimatix to install the java and nvidia restricted extras, still comes up broken packages, tried everything, still won't let me install.
The burn came up with a perfect burn.....
Thx for the help.

Did you remove the Ultimate Edition repos and add the medibuntu repos before you tried to add the Ubuntu-restricted-extras and java?

Hello LeadFingers!:
Ahh, no I didnt, I was able to go through Ultamatix with my other machine running Ultimate Edition 2.0x64, I was able to install the ubuntu restricted extra's, but not on this machine that's running UE-2.0 Gamersx86.

Wondering how do I go about removing the Ultimate Edition repos and adding the medibunntu repo as you mentioned?
Java did install, and it works fine, when trying Automatix it just comes up broken packages, fatal errors:

Also, on my UE-2.0x64 machine, I unplugged my Logitech mx-518 mouse, when I intalled UE-2.0-x64 it was in the PS2 location with the usb adaptor, and it worked fine, now I unplugged it, and changed to a different mouse in the USB plug, and it comes up with no mouse detected, and I would have to shut-down, which this was my origional issue with UT and my mouse, sorry for the back and forth between two machines and two different issues.

Thanks for the help Leadfingers much appreciated!!
