A little info might help.
1) What version of Ultimate Edition you are using
2) What Video card
3) System specs
4) In a terminal type
Code: Select all
glxgears

Let this run for 30 seconds and post back the results
5) Copy & paste in a post, All of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Capitol X in X11

ps: are you running compiz/fusion or Beryl while gaming?
If yes, disable and see if it solves your problem.

We need to know which version of Ultimate Edition you are using

Since Ultimate Edition hasn't come out with 1.8 Gamers yet, I will assume you are using 1.7 or lower
If you Upgraded to gamers edition from 1.8 the advice below won't apply,
as 1.8 uses Envyng and 1.7 and earlier use Envy.

If you are using Feisty & Gutsy you need to go to the Envy site
http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
Download Envy (Not Envyng) to desktop
Yes, download the latest release even if Envy was installed by default.
double click to install
If using Gnome, can start Envy GUI from Applications/System Tools/Envy
or from a terminal
Code: Select all
sudo envy -t

Install your video drivers & reboot (or restart X)
use Nvidia settings (in system tools) to set your resolution.
This should go a long ways toward smooth gaming
microcode bcm34xx not available or load fail

You need to install your wireless drivers
See BCM43XX wireless driver Install guide By vinca (will work for 1.7 & 1.8)

I wouldn't worry about it. I had this happen to me and it doesn't seem to affect anything other than the user swither applet on the panel. Don't sweat it unless your using with other people and you need to use the applet on the panel instead of just clicking the main power icon and selecting "switch user".
-ps I think that it must fix itself too, cause this only happened to me for a very short while.
