There are some free dns servers which can be used to secure yourself from malware and phishing attacks.
Norton ConnectSafe, OpenDNS are some good dns providers.

Opendns have free dns servers but the dont save you from malware sites. You will have to take $20/year subscription for additional home features.
But Norton is free and a bit strict. There are there policies as follows :

1. Security (policies block malware, phishing and scam sites)

Code: Select all
Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.40
Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.40

2. Security (policies block malware, phishing and scam sites) + Porn

Code: Select all
Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.50
Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.50

3. Security (policies block malware, phishing and scam sites) + Porn + Non-Family Friendly (for families with children) includes sites that feature: mature content, abortion, alcohol, crime, cult, drugs, gambling, hate, sexual orientation, suicide, tobacco or violence.

Code: Select all
Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.60
Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.60

Configure this in the router, to help avoid DNS,redirect, url attacks.
