KDE themes unsure what is going wrong?

Not looking too bad now! Still there is just a few things left. Now since I do have the color for the time adjusted properly, I know there has to be a way to do the rest on the taskbar??? Calendar would be nice to add to also but do not need to get real greedy! I just want to kiss the white text goodbye! Never liked it, never will! Would be grinning to get either the green or the amber to do the rest of the text on this desktop. So if you got any ideas, cause I do not know where those files are hiding? Anyway here is what I have so far. Is appealing and very usable to me. If I can just get the bottom task bar to go with the flow, will use KDE a lot! Thanks for all your help to this point. If you do not know where to go from here is okay, please just let me know!!!!

Switch to oxygen on everything, you were in the right place for "taskbar" before. If you switch the desktop theme to oxygen, it will run with your color scheme.

You can even change the color of the oxygen icons to match your theme. But you do have to do that manually

What you might want to do is try to learn how KDE works first before you fall into an unnecessary rabbit-hole.

I think I did try Siduction before, but once again no where to go to dl it! Stuck running my mess! Have to make fun of it sometime! To be honest is no worse than any other out there. I mean every OS I ran had some kind of weird thing with it!!! So yes I have a weird thing with mine also! So I guess it just evens the score! Going to give that a shot tomorrow. You know I went thru the default color scheme in the KDE folder and dumped all the whites, changed them to amber and guess what???? Is still white as this background. Argh whoever thought #ffffff was a great way to go for text should be put in front of the computer til his/her eyes fall out! Just way way too bright!!!! Have learned to go no higher than A's is more than enough! In fact current scheme I run with Gnome has nothing higher than 9's. Imagine that? Is all easy to see and read with no eye strain. Is a trip that 65 is more than visible with Green! Yellow or Light Blue would never show at that range on black! Yet green shows right through! Learned a lot messing with that light Ambiance coloring!!!Best move I made to get off the yellow, red and light blue text! Looks a thousand times better to have more coloring with the text. Am loving the way KDE is looking with the colors, is sharp, but boy will I grin ear to ear when all the white text is gone for good!!!! To be real honest, I kind of hoped KDE would have run all the scripts like Gnome does. Why? Is easier to weed out what you do not want when is in a general area instead of all spread out!!!! Is a lot of the problem I fall into in any OS am using! Anyway am beat, will give this another go tomorrow when I get done with some things. Thanks Xan am sure will get there soon!!!!

Why are you changing the default folder? You can just run the default scheme at GUI, go back where I mentioned, change the colors how you want them, and save that. Then you can go into your new scheme and compare. It sounds like you are just making it harder than it needs to be. I understand why you are going that route, because I too, mess with a lot of Gnome, but I don't know if that's the best way to go about it just starting to learn a new environment. Your basic changes are spread across several menus with an extremely high number of options.

Yeah..I wouldn't run SID maybe with low Net options. Kinda defeats the purpose. <BREW>

One day hopefully America will try to compete with the rest of the world and have decent internet. Maybe it's on purpose, if its too fast it will be harder to monitor :( I can literally walk a block away and see Seattle across the water, yet where I live you have to get full on Comcast Business class to get a decent connection. There's no competition here. The other option is extreme waiting,and constant slowdowns to where it will barely load a youtube video.

See now the reason it is considered Hillbilly territory out here cause it is! Hillbillies are people that absolutely resent change! They deplore it in utmost! So with that fact, they absolutely refuse to string a cable 1/2 mile and gain 20 customers in the process! So all of us are on our own! Stuck on either Verizon wireless or Satellite that is ineffective and ridiculous! Been there done it! No DSL, No Cable we are as primitive as Hillbillies can be! Anyway, I even went thru the color on icons put color in for dialogs and the white remains steady unmoving! Is like u know what on a bull! I can not take it! White text has to go or I stay with Gnome! You are right, do not know what I am doing, and took the best guess last night to rid it of that awful white! All I can figure is KDE runs that text off the main system and we are all just stuck with that bright text on the screen no matter what! I just hope somewhere I am missing something! I looked at Blackwolf's pic and saw the same blasted white on the menu so am guessing KDE tells us we do not get to have full control of our system. Kind of like Windows does!!!!

You're crazy. KDE lets you have more control than any other DE available in spades.

You change the text...

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->view text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->window text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->button text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->selection text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->selection inactive text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->inactive text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->active text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->link text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->visited text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->negative text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->neutral text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->positive text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->tooltip text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->active titlebar text

Systemsettings-->application appearance-->colors-->colors-->inactive titlebar text

Stop using KDE like it's Gnome. It is not. You are wasting your time with your approach. You need to learn how to use KDE first.
