Off-Topic :
I am thinking at some point there may be some confusion as to the session lists when it comes to Ultimate Edition 3.4 lite. The environment as listed here
http://ultimateedition.info/ultimate-edition/ultimate-edition-3-4-lts/ is referred to as Gnome 2. Being that I do not have the technical expertise to provide detail, and do not want anyone thinking they have installed Mate, I simply am referring to it as it appears in the session list Mate. The link should help clear up any confusion.

Pretty curious actually to what it is that you had trouble with. 3.5 may have been working fine, it just needed a little direction. Just depends on how much hair you want to keep. Once you make it yours though...wow.

Xanayoshi wrote:When you do get to the display manager option...choose lightdm. If you need to know how, look up. Do not exit because you will not be done. When the install is complete, you will see $ Afterwards, you will need to assign permissions to kde4 files to actually open the session from the dm.

So I finally got this installed, not sure how to assign permissions to kde4 but as soon as I got in I tried to switch the window manager from compiz to kwin and after doing so the kicker menu was non responsive so I changed back to compiz and it was still non-responsive so I rebooted and now the desktop is very sluggish and I lost all the icons in the lower right corner of the screen. It also initially came up with a crash report aswell

Ok, I must appologize here. Some people have sent me PM's and for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to reply. When I click on reply and type a message and submit I get told that no recipients have been choosen or added or something to that effect. I thought hitting reply would be the same as hitting reply in an email and it would actually reply to the person who messaged me! Anyhow, seems I have made a mistake and Installed 3.4 LTS not Lite. Anyhow it seem that it's time for me to give up on this KDE install, every time I do so my system breaks and I have to re-install and it's time to live by the code "If it Aint Broke, Don't Fix It"

This might be a bigger problem, as I had written the install on lite for 4.10.1, and last night I ran into the same issues you are describing on 3.5, unfortunately I had to do an apt-get upgrade to the system and you may lose your Mate setup. On my lite install, I could not get session to run without assigning permissions(you would not be in KDE), are you 4.10.1 or 4.10.2?

This is a backport, so when you are running the latest version, the method will change. but I can not be sure, I am having trouble with your image and do not know when you installed.
