Backports are now at 4.11

snapshot1.png

I haven't tested on any Ultimate Edition releases, waiting for 12.04.3 which is supposed to be avaialable on the 22nd. I also have not checked Siduction "SLACKER!!!"

As far as my slight time on 4.11. It is realllllly responsive. Still my machine could blow up any second, who knows. I do want to revisit 3.5.1 at some point, it is generally the same deal as 3.5..remove Unity, Cinnamon, Yarrsr, except for the Mate environment kind of throws me off a little. I have issues with Mate on Ultimate Edition alongside latest KDE on 3.5 and I have no idea why. If I can get it straightened out, I could probably just rip out Gnome all together since Gnome 3 doesn't work anyways. Alternatively, Mate and latest KDE do work fine on 3.4 lite.....so far. It may just be easier to add xfce and lxde to it..hmmm

You can get the latest KDE from backports on here..

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ueoz/fi ... o/download

KDE is not the default session.

There is also Unity, Gnome 3, Gnome Fallback, Cairo-Dock Gnome, and XBMC

At the time of this posting it is at the latest KDE version 4.11.1

I fail at torrents. I have it seeded, but it is certainly not working.

I am trying to download from the sourceforge link myself and started it quite a while ago. I still have 2 hours left to go.

I do know that this is working, for the moment.

There is a high probability of me editing that out in the near future.

Apparently, I did not fail on my torrent.

I'm currently getting about 4.3MB/s Download.

So to keep up appearances if anyone is interested in being a seeder don't be shy!

I have not put anything new together.

However I thought I would start upgrade on Diamond2b KDE before I left this morning.

so into tty in KDE Environment..

ctrl+alt+F1
Code: Select all
su

Code: Select all
apt-get update

Code: Select all
apt-get dist-upgrade -f

Code: Select all
reboot

This brought KDE up to date

After Reboot, opened up "Updater" in Ubuntu Unity

and switched settings to notify me of new version,
then looked for new version, and Bob Loblaw

Reboot

I changed that logo in official I believe this was made, ohhh, maybe shortly before, but the changes made to release were this and taking out many many kernels, something that I directed the updater to do in obsolete packages during upgrade here

Gnome is basically the same(3.8.4)

except

now we have Gnome Classic and Gnome Fallback, also Gnome Fallback No Effects
also
caiodock.png

Cairo-Dock Gnome
Caps were replaced all the way around

There is a replacement for compiz in pixbuffs but I can't remember if I remembered to add KDE cap back-up there in release

Still, latest KDE, latest Ubuntu, as well as Unity, Gnome Classic, Gnome Fallback, Cairo-Dock Gnome, and XBMC. Compiz is working, KDE effects(of course) are working
Pretty Sweet
