Lite is already ready to go pretty much but if you do install from 3.4 lite you need to lose yarrsr,

Yea, just want the option for KDE, as 3.4lite is Gnome2 only

But I know it's there and I can get to it, I am looking through X11, I may need edit config or install some things, I am going to see if I can go to x-term and load from there, I think it's kernel related, or has something to do with my sdb set-up, still...moving on...rambling...I will edit.

Technically, for the purposes of this, we must view 3.4 lite desktop as "Mate", although there are some changes made. There is XBMC, but I don't technically count this either.

So I am eleminating kernel variant, installed liquorix, 3.8.4, 3.8.5, nogo, but 3.6 loaded fine, so that's 3 that load. The original 2 plus 3.6.

Still swimming upstream, so I can not modify dmrc, but I wasn't after that initially since that's more for autostart, irritating, because I was just dealing with this a couple weeks ago, but in a completely different environment, still...session will not load, starts, and then fails, although session can be started through terminal...so I keep thinking I have to alter configurations for dm, or maybe go so far as to bypass dm with nodm, but, blaaahhhh..rambling

dbus socket error
kd init denied
org not present

saw error message at startup, used mdm..pretty decent gui really, error messages are not showing in .xsession-errors

I mean, the install was fine, this isn't the issue, somewhere I am being blocked, I assigned permissions. I think I have to change accountsservice.

I'm almost there.

O.k.

Permissions

so after install

terminal

Code: Select all
sudo dolphin

Make sure you can see hidden files, go to home/user/.kde

Select all files inside, assign group permissions like so

reboot, session should load now..

but that is half? 18%? the battle.

On to window management.

So in Mate, I clicked the compiz option for KDE, I don't know if this helped, so far using lightdm, there are more likely going to be more permission issues, assign through rooted dolphin. not # but sudo. Seems that there are no issues window management wise, kwin is running in KDE and Compiz in Mate, as it should be, compiz is not needed in KDE.

Behold, the majestical root dolphin, in all it's glory.

conky is tricky, go left a workspace, open terminal, type conky, close, and it appears to the right workspace, or is that the other way?
