Changing Login Screen Issue..

Changing Login Screen Issue..

Postby ninjawarrior » Sun Dec 16, 2012 6:29 am

I am using Ultimate Edition 3,5 and I am trying to change the loging screen, with the KDM login manager located in systems settings. I have installed several themes, using the manager, but even after applying the settings, no changes are made in the login screen. I have also just tried to download the file and let the manager install it, but still no change. I am also using the KDE desktop with an updated kernel (3.6.0-7 dmz.1-liquorix-amd64). Any ideas on how to do this correctly?
Thanx.... :geek:

How do I run System Settings as root? I have been looking this over and I can`t just run the module as an administrator (I`ve been using windoze for too long).

MDM works pretty well even though I can't seem to get GDM off the ground which makes no sense(I don't mean at the same time, you have to uninstall one to use the other). KDM did have theme install issues but after reading this forum I think it can be revisited. Going back to LightDM I made changes in Ubuntu Tweak but they wouldn't take hold and KDM would start up. Still preferential to that horrible Ubuntu pink login(seriously...why?), but I had already done that with my 64bit so I wanted something different. I removed KDM and now Ubuntu Tweak works with LightDM. It's not perfect but it is also not a pink Ubuntu login screen.
